Terms of service
These terms are the agreement between you and Kinspeople when you use our website or app. Please read them, along with our community guidelines and privacy policy.
What Kinspeople is
Kinspeople connects people who want company with local hosts for friendly, platonic activities at public places, like coffee, a walk, a museum visit or language practice. Hosts are independent people, not our employees. We provide the platform, check hosts' phone numbers and places, and handle payments.
Who can use it
- You must be 18 or older.
- Your account is for you only. Use your real name and a real photo of yourself.
- Hosts must verify their own GTA mobile number. Virtual and internet phone numbers aren't accepted.
- Keep your sign-in secure. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
The house rules
Every guest and host agrees to our community guidelines before each booking. In short:
- Kinspeople is platonic companionship only. No romantic or sexual services, requests or contact.
- Meet only at the public place in the booking, never at a home, hotel room or other private space.
- Keep messages and payments in the app.
- Treat each other with respect. Either person can end the activity and leave at any time.
Bookings
- You request a day, start time and length for an activity. The host has 24 hours to accept.
- Each booking has one meeting place, which must be public and checked by our team.
- On the day, you swap PINs in the app to start your time together.
- Hosts can decline a request or end an activity if the house rules aren't followed.
Prices and payments
- Prices are in Canadian dollars and shown before you send a request, including any fees and taxes.
- When you send a request, we place a hold on your card. If the host declines or doesn't reply in 24 hours, the hold is released.
- The payment goes through after your time together ends and you both leave feedback.
- Pay only through Kinspeople. Paying a host outside the app breaks these terms.
- Hosts are responsible for reporting their earnings and paying their own taxes.
Cancellations and refunds
You can cancel a request or booking from Bookings in the app. Our full cancellation and refund policy will be published here before booking opens, and you'll see it before you send any request.
What you can't do
- Offer, ask for or suggest anything romantic or sexual.
- Ask anyone to meet somewhere private, or move the meeting to a different place.
- Share or ask for phone numbers, emails, social handles or outside links.
- Harass, threaten, discriminate against or pressure anyone.
- Pretend to be someone else, post fake activities or list a place that isn't public.
- Use Kinspeople for anything illegal, or try to break, scrape or misuse the service.
Reports, suspensions and closing accounts
Anyone can report a person, activity or message. Our team reviews every report. We may remove activities, suspend accounts or close them, without notice when someone's safety is at risk. You can close your own account at any time.
Your content
You own the photos, profile text and messages you add. You give Kinspeople permission to show and store them to run the service. Don't post anything you don't have the right to share.
Safety and responsibility
We check hosts' phone numbers and places, but we don't do identity or background checks, and we can't guarantee how anyone will behave. Use your judgment, plan your own travel, and leave if something feels wrong. In an emergency, call 911 first.
To the extent the law allows, Kinspeople isn't responsible for what guests or hosts do, and our total responsibility for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the booking involved. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Ontario consumer protection law.
Changes and governing law
When we change these terms, we update the date at the top and tell you about important changes before they take effect. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
